Ideas about Schema from Erin Mahollitz

One of the most important things good readers do is THINK!
What do you think about?
A common thought is, "That reminds me of......"
Good readers connect what they already know to what they are reading.
This is powerful stuff!

The more thoughts as idea is associated with - the more value it has in the brain.
All that knowledge in your brain - this is called SCHEMA.

We will be working on understanding the importance
of schema as we read or listen to reading.
To write a quality narrative, the students
must have a lot of "schema" about the topic before writing.
I'm excited to see how the children make their connections known
in their reading and writing.  A good week ahead!
